Finding content


Q. How do I find content of interest?


The best way to find specific content is to click on the “Library” menu item. Type a key word or presenter’s name into the search field, for example “strategic” or “strategy” will return all content with this keyword. Typing a name such as “Michael” will return all presentations with “Michael” as the presenter.



Q. How do I find a webinar recently run by Better Boards?


Click on the “Library” menu item. Type the title of the webinar (or any key words from the title) into the search field.



Q. I can’t find a recent webinar/conference presentation?


Recent webinars are usually added to the BoardWise library within four weeks of the live presentation. If it has been more than four weeks, email us on [email protected] for an update.

 

Sharing content with your board


If you would like to share a particular presentation with your board, look for the “Share Resource” button to the right of the page.


This button will send an email to the members of your board who are listed in your BoardWise membership. The email will say that you have recommended they view this resource, and include the name and link to the resource. Your members will need to be logged in to BoardWise to view the recommended resource.


You can use this function to coordinate your professional development program with your board.

 

Adding CPD


CPD will be automatically added to your profile when you have watched at least 70% of the selected content.

When viewing a resource, the button on the right will change to read “Mark completed” when at least 70% of the resource has been viewed.


Click the “Mark completed” button to load your CPD time for that resource.

 

How do I add my CPD?


Q. The button on the right is faded out and says “Can be completed in ‘X’min”?


This suggests that less than 70% of the resource has been viewed. Skipping forward in a video may cause this to happen. In a text-based resource, the page will wait for an amount of time that an ‘average’ reader would take to read the resource, before the button changes to say “Mark completed”.



Q. I’ve watched a resource, but the CPD did not appear in my profile?


Make sure you click the “Mark completed” button on the right, before leaving the page.



Q. I’ve completed some of the content in a pathway, but nothing is showing on my CPD log?


The CPD time for each pathway will show in your CPD log in your profile when all content for that pathway has been marked as complete.

To see your current progress on a pathway, click on the ‘Pathways’ menu item at the top of the page, a progress bar will be visible on the pathway you have been working on. Click back into the pathway you were working on to continue your progress.

 

Can I add my CPD time from other providers?


Q. I participated in a professional development webinar or training session by another provider, how do I add this CPD time/session to my profile?


Click on the ‘User’ icon (top right) and select ‘Profile’. On your Profile page click the “Add CPD” button, this takes you to a simple form to add basic details of any third party CPD you have completed. Details required:

  • Date completed
  • Length of activity
  • Activity name
  • Provider
  • Presenter
  • Topic (select best fit from dropdown menu)

Click the “Add to CPD Log” button to log the details.

 

How do I edit my CPD record?


If a CPD record has been added incorrectly or in error, this can be corrected. Please email us on [email protected] and include the details to be corrected. We will contact you to confirm and action your request.

 

Annual CPD target


Set your CPD goal for the year and track your progress in BoardWise.



Q. How do I set my CPD Target?


When you first log in to BoardWise you will land on the ‘Dashboard’ page. This page allows you to set a personal CPD target, track your progress in relation to that target, and see an anonymous comparison with your board’s average CPD time - as well as the to average CPD time logged by all BoardWise members.


On the ‘Dashboard’ page click the “Set your CPD Target” button. This will take you to a page with two fields “Target” and “Year”. Click on the “Target” field and select from the dropdown menu the number of hours you would like to aim to log for your CPD.


From the “Year” dropdown menu, select which calendar year you would like the target hours to apply to.



IMPORTANT:

Currently it is best to set your target hours just once for the current year. Editing the target more than once will create a list of numbers on your Profile page rather than an accumulative total. This is a known bug and is in the pipeline for a fix.


 

Help! Something doesn’t seem to be working?
